Geography

Stamford is located along the Long Island Sound shoreline in southwest Connecticut.

Cultural Attractions

The town features the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, which puts an emphasis on art, nature, and history.

Recreation

Stamford is the site of the Bartlet Arboretum, which covers 91 acres filled with horticultural resources and 10 trails, as well as Cove Park Island, 83 acres of outdoor activities and a planned butterfly garden.

Historical

Approximately 10,000 of Stamford's 60,000 residents served in World War II.

Economy

Known as the "Lock City" until the 1950s when the company that earned the town the nickname moved, Stamford has also been known as the "Research City." Recently, it has been called the "Corporate City" because of the number of <em>Fortune </em>500 companies in the county.
