Geography
Marquette is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, on the southern shore of Lake Superior.

The city is home to Northern Michigan University, which boasts the world's largest wooden dome, the Superior Dome, a venue for sports and entertainment.
Recreation
Marquette has 11 accessible waterfalls, Lake Superior, Presque Isle Park, and Marquette Mountain, one of the Midwest's longest vertical runs.
Economy
The 1995 closure of the K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base had a huge impact on Marquette and the surrounding area, which has since recovered and is now considered the retail shopping destination of the Upper Peninsula.
Fun Fact
The First Church of Christ, Scientist was built in town in 1926 by Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of the church.
