The Loch Norman Highland Games are held each year to celebrate the Scottish heritage of Mecklenburg County.

Historical

This town was formed when two cotton farmers in nearby Davidson disagreed over whether an official cotton weigher should be hired by the town.  The cotton farmer who lost the debate relocated his operation south of Davidson upon the hiring of the weigher, thus attracting others to the newly-founded Cornelius.
