Recreation
Salem Lake is a popular site for fishing and boating. Runners and cyclists will enjoy the 6.9-mile trail that rings the lake. Golfers can play on some of the finest courses in the country, including Tanglewood Park.
Historical
The city is the birthplace of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The first were sold to local grocery stores here in 1937.
