Geography

The city is located in the center of the state. The 7-mile stretch of the North Canadian River that runs through Oklahoma City was renamed the Oklahoma River in 2004.

Cultural Attractions

The Bricktown Canal and Entertainment District is home to the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, Harkins Theatres, and dozens of restaurants and shopping establishments.

Recreation

The Oklahoma River is ideal for rowing and kayaking. Golfers can tee off at more than a dozen area clubs.

Historical

On April 19, 1995, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was bombed and 168 people were killed. A memorial now stands on the building site.

Economy

Major employers in the city include state government, Tinker Air Force Base, and the U.S. Postal Service.
