The cost of long-term care varies considerably depending on where you live. The median annual cost for a licensed home health aide ranges from $33,176 in West Virginia to $57,200 in Alaska and Rhode Island. Prices for a semi-private room in a nursing home fluctuate between a median of $44,165 per year in Texas to $218,453 in Alaska. To come up with a list of affordable places for long-term care, U.S. News compared the costs of four types of long-term care in major metro areas using Genworth Financial data: the median hourly rate for a licensed home health aide, adult day health care daily rates, assisted living facility annual rates, and the annual cost of a semi-private room in a nursing home. Here are the most inexpensive cities in which to purchase various types of long-term care.
