About 54 million people received Social Security benefits in 2010, the CBO said. Sixty-four percent of them were retired workers, 15 percent were disabled, and 21 percent were spouses and family members of retired and disabled workers. By 2035, CBO projects, benefits will be paid to 91 million people comprised of 76 percent retired workers, 11 percent disabled workers, and 12 percent family members.
